Knowout — Privacy Policy

Knowout ("we", "us", "the app") is a trivia game for iOS and Android. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

Information we collect

If you play as a guest, we don't collect any information that identifies you. Your progress is stored only on your device and is not linked to a personal account.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive and store:

• Your name and email address, as provided by Google or Apple
• A unique account identifier
• Your gameplay data: scores, streaks, coins, elimination-round history, and category performance

We do not ask for or store your password when you sign in with Google or Apple. Sign-in is handled entirely by Google/Apple and verified through Firebase Authentication.

How we use this information

• To save your progress and sync it across devices
• To run daily streaks, leaderboards, and Play Games achievements
• To detect duplicate or abusive play (e.g. one daily challenge attempt per day)

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising — Knowout does not run ads and does not use Firebase Analytics or any third-party analytics/advertising SDK.

Third-party services

Knowout uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — handles Google/Apple sign-in verification
• Google Play Games Services (Android only) — powers achievements and leaderboards if you choose to connect your Google Play Games account
• Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — the sign-in providers themselves

Where your data is stored

Account and gameplay data is stored on servers hosted on Microsoft Azure. We take reasonable technical measures to protect it, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention and deletion

Guest data lives only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. If you signed in with Google or Apple and want your account and gameplay data deleted, visit our account deletion page or contact us (below) and we'll remove it.

Children's privacy

Knowout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
